> Ask questions, review exclusions, or get a full coverage summary across one or more policy documents.

### How it works

Explore a Policy gives you three distinct ways to work through a policy document — or a full set of policies — depending on what you need to know. Each use case uses enhanced prompting and tool orchestration tailored specifically for policy analysis, going well beyond a basic document search.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select a use case">
    Use the dropdown to choose the analysis that fits your goal:

    * **Ask Policy Question** — Upload a document and ask any question. Best for targeted lookups: a specific coverage, an endorsement, a limit, or anything else you need a precise answer on.
    * **Explore Exclusions** — A comprehensive review of every exclusion in the policy, with plain-language summaries, endorsement form references, exceptions and nuances to be aware of, and claim scenarios that show how each exclusion would affect a real loss.
    * **Summarize Coverage** — An in-depth summary of every coverage across all uploaded documents, organized into a structured table with limits, sublimits, deductibles, and conditions for each line.

    <Note>
      The dropdown selection determines which analysis Cara runs. Each use case produces a meaningfully different output — choose based on what you need, not just what's convenient.
    </Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload documents">
    Upload the policy document or documents you want Cara to analyze. All three use cases support multiple documents — for example, a GL, a workers comp policy, and a property policy uploaded together.

    <Tip>
      You can also add broker notes, endorsements, or emails for additional context.
    </Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your question or prompt">
    For **Ask Policy Question**, use the question field to tell Cara exactly what you're looking for — for example: *"Find all limits and endorsements related to EPL coverage"* or *"What does this policy cover for a client that does bike rentals?"*

    For **Explore Exclusions** and **Summarize Coverage**, Cara works through the full document set automatically. You can still add notes if you want to direct her attention to specific areas.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review the output">
    **Ask Policy Question** returns a structured answer with an overview of what Cara found, detailed sections addressing your specific question, and flags for anything that may need follow-up or clarification.

    **Explore Exclusions** returns a full exclusions review covering every exclusion in the policy. For each one, Cara provides:

    * What the exclusion is and which endorsement form it references
    * A plain-language summary of what it means in practice
    * Exceptions or nuances that could affect how it applies
    * Claim scenarios showing how the exclusion would respond for this client's specific business type

    <Tip>
      The claim scenarios in **Explore Exclusions** are tailored to the client's operations — not generic examples. You can ask Cara to generate additional scenarios for any specific exclusion to help frame a client conversation.
    </Tip>

    **Summarize Coverage** returns a structured table of every coverage across all uploaded documents, with columns for policy limits, sublimits, deductibles, and notes or conditions. The table is scrollable for long outputs.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Next steps">
    From here, you can:

    * Ask Cara follow-up questions about anything in the documents
    * Request additional claim scenarios for a specific exclusion or coverage
    * Ask Cara to draft a client email or PDF summary based on her findings
    * Run **Coverage Gap Analysis** to identify upsell opportunities based on what the policy review revealed
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Tips for best results

* **For Summarize Coverage, upload all policies at once.** Cara can work across a workers comp, GL, and property policy simultaneously — giving you a single unified coverage table rather than running separate analyses for each document.
* **Ask Policy Question is more accurate than a basic document search.** It uses enhanced tool orchestration specifically built for policy questions, so the answers are more precise and better structured than a general document query.
* **Explore Exclusions is particularly useful for client-facing conversations.** The plain-language summaries and business-specific claim scenarios give you what you need to explain complex exclusions clearly — without translating policy language on the fly.
